No real difference, it is more of an issue of increasing visibility.
It is just another way to make people aware of your cause, issue or business. Similar to why you market your business on radio, tv, web, Google, Yahoo and so on.
The bigger your marketing network the wider reach for your message.

Pretty good info….Facebook is not as user friendly as MySpace….Not even close!
