techstoprepair.blogspot.com Here is a semi detailed video of a 50″ Philips plasma tv repair model 50PF9731D/37. This was my first TV repair and i thought it would be helpful to show how easy it can be. I replaced 2 3300uf 10v 105c capacitors. From what i’ve read this is one of the most common repairs for LCD and Plasma due to power surge. Total cost of repair was about in parts. Please feel free to ask any question in the comments section. Sorry about the audio in some spots, but i promise you didnt miss anything. Thanks!

I have the same tv with the red blinking light flashing as well. I’m willing to sell it don’t want to bother in looking or repairing it. only $100
I had done all the soldering thing in my Plasma TV, I’d replace 4 of 10v 3300 microfarad on the power board but still my plasma doesn’t work properly, there is sounds but no picture only some spot were had graphics, and the rest were black… please help me. my email is axeph24@yahoo.ca
thanks
@LiquidVitamins123 thanks for posting. The caps I used were 105 degrees and the tv has been running strong for over a year. I made sure to get 105 . I’m not a tv repair guy but I guess they must make blue 105c caps.
Thanks for the video, but you made a mistake. I see that you replaced the caps with blue ones instead of black ones. I’m a TV Repairman, and the ones you put in are 85 degrees instead of the 105 degree caps that were originally in there. Those won’t last more than a few months, and they will blow. I just wanted to mention that.
should of got a surge protector
@f4r33st lmao xD
stop zooming in/out, your sound dies when u do that
i have a 2 1/2 yr old philips plasma 42pf9431d/37 twe turned it on and heard a pop sound from the back of the TV we still have a green light and still have sound! Any Idea’s?
Thanks!
@Fitzinvest Are there any other capacitors that have swollen tops?
Also look for cracks in the resistors. The colored bands make them easier to see.
Christian.
You rock. You saved me a lot of frustration and money. Your video made this easy to do. Don’t know where you found capacitors locally. I had to order online and wait a week. Tip for others doing this. When you finish putting it back together and it doesn’t come on make sure the connections snap in securely.
Refering to capacitor voltage your shop guy was right. The voltage on a cap means the max voltage that particular cap can handle. For example your 10V cap sees a min of 10V. Replacing with a 16V cap that same cap will also see a 10V min in which it will run perfectly fine.
OK, so I found your video and said AMEN. I watched it, took my TV apart and saw exactly the same thing wrong with my TV as what you showed in your video. EXACTLY THE SAME CAPS WERE BLOWN.
I had to put in two that had greater voltage (25V and 35V), but TV guy said that would not matter for the repair.
Got home, reassembled the TV and it still won’t come on. Clicks when first plugged in. Green light comes on and no video or sound.
Please provide further guidance. Please..

Hi, I have a Philips 50PFP5332D/37, that doesn’t turn on, just a cracking noise and blinking leds on the back, I removed the power supply, but i couldn’t find any bad capacitor, everything looks good… How can I find out which one is bad??? any ideas?
you cand get the right capacitors at allied electronics
i have a 42pf7320a/37 it looks exactally the same on the inside,as your 50pf9731d/3.ive researched this problem.the green lights come on in the back when i plug it in for about 30 seconds then i hear a click and get a flashing red led in the front of the tv.the exact same two capacitors are numberd c8059 and c8060 are not bulged out.i took the board off and looked for a (cold soder joint).they appear to be fine as far as looks go.
